    Leo Smith's Freeform
    Personality

    Social Chameleon

Leo is a social chameleon—she finds it difficult to maintain her own identity and beliefs around others who are more vocal about their own. Thus most of her ideals and mannerisms come from whomever holds a prominent place in her life. Her sense of morality is especially affected by others.

    Loyal—Kind Of!

Well, at least while Leo is with them. Once Leo is separated from the object of her loyalty, it's trivial to convince her that maybe they aren't worth the time.

    Ladies' Lady

Leo develops frequent infatuations toward strong, independent women, especially ones that save her from monsters and whether or not they're good for her. This has proved detrimental more than once, but unfortunately, Leo isn't the fastest learner.

    Tactless

Leo's sense of tact is practically nonexistent. She frequently speaks her mind, often unwittingly and to disaster, even if her thoughts aren't the most appropriate.

    Bored

Leo longs for excitement in her life—against her better judgment! Fortunately, her better judgment usually wins out against that little urge to jump right into danger. (For now!)

    Her Way or the Highway

As people say, if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. Leo often believes that she knows best and everyone else is a buffoon, though her knowing best often flip-flops between extremes based on whoever influenced her last.

    Background

Leo's first childhood memory is asking her mother to color with her and being told to shut up—an interaction which depicted their relationship with startling accuracy. Leo's parents were upper class and solely dedicated to their businesses. Not to each other. Not to their daughter. Just their jobs.

They were good at their jobs. Both mother and father were brilliant, cutthroat business people, and their determination bought the family a cozy life. Unfortunately, they were not good parents. Their idea of parenting involved dropping a grammar dictionary in front of Leo and telling her to read it front to back and stop bothering them. At least Leo had a very firm grasp on language at a young age.

Throughout her childhood and adolescence, Leo threw herself into her studies in an attempt to please or impress her parents, but no achievement or award ever caused her parents to bat an eye. At fourteen years old, Leo finally gave up—she dropped out of Latin club, gave up volunteering, and quit her advanced placement classes. All teenagers rebel, but Leo rebelled hard

Leo took all the attention and energy she had dedicated to school and instead threw it at a girl. Annie. Annie who was skinny as a rail, Annie with wheat blonde hair and bruises under her eyes. She smoked her first blunt with Annie—and her second, and third, and fiftieth—and threw her first punch, and received her first knee to the groin in a kind of fight club Annie brought her to. (The first time Annie mentioned fight club, Leo laughed for a minute straight because that sounded absurd. Leo went anyway.)

Leo graduated with honors despite not opening a textbook for the rest of high school. Her parents didn't notice or care. She and Annie parted ways on mutual terms as they each headed to different universities, where Leo majored in, god forbid, English. She could analyze the hell out of homosexual subtext, but a nose for queers didn't find her a job after she graduated with her Bachelor's.

Leo took a thankless, unrewarding position as a secretary until one evening, walking home from work, she found herself trapped in a Labyrinth Event with a rabid Gazimon trying to eat her. So much for that.

    Early Life

    • Upper class parents, both cutting edge business people.
    • Largely ignored by her parents growing up.
    • Strove to do well in school and hobbies to impress her parents and gain their approval.
    • Never gained their approval.
    • Stopped trying so hard later in high school. Took to reading fantasy and science fiction as a hobby instead, extracurriculars be damned.

    College

    • Attended an average, out of state university to get away from her absent parents.
    • Majored in English and analyzing homosexual subtext in novels.
    • Realized she was homosexual.
    • Became infatuated with very attractive, very emotionally stunted Annie after Annie punched her in the face.
    • Annie begrudgingly tolerated Leo after Leo punched her back.
    • Leo joined a fight club with Annie and came away with a lot of bruises, a weird feeling in her stomach, and an uncanny ability to tell when someone's about to jump her from behind.

    Adulthood

    • Graduated with her Bachelor's in English.
    • Couldn't find a relevant job, despite her skills at finding homosexual subtext.
    • Worked a shitty secretary job instead.

    Labyrinth Event

    • Got trapped in a Labyrinth Event walking home from work late one evening.
    • Was pursued by a Gazimon. Managed to escape.
    • Passed out when the Labyrinth Event collapsed.
    • Woke up in the Digital World with a Flamon and Strabimon standing over her.

    Digital World

    • Arrived in the Digital World with the earliest wave of humans.
    • Spent a week trekking across File Island to get from Mount Panorama back to File City, where she and her new partners laid low.
    • Occasionally went on excursions into the wilderness to seek out lost new arrivals.

    Rei's Freeform
    Personality

If Rei had to name the three most important things to him, they would be: honor, justice, and Leo (in no particular order!), with his brother Suto coming in at a close fourth. He prioritizes these concepts and strives to fulfill them to the best of his ability. He doesn't tolerate cruelty or evil—and more than once, Rei has held him back from throwing himself against an impossible foe because a perceived injustice.

Rei is a little holier-than-thou, but he means well.

Rei doesn't enjoy fighting, but it's the unfortunate reality of the Digital World in its current state—the strong must put down the weak, and Rei will fight if it means protecting the downtrodden. Suto always tells him that one day, Rei will make a martyr of himself. Rei just rolls his eyes, believing himself invincible in the way that teenagers do.

    Moral

Rei has a very strict set of morals—good is good, bad is bad, and there's rarely anything in between.

    Martyr

In his quest to protect the weak and strike down the wicked, Rei throws himself into risky situations and disregards his own safety. Suto always says Rei is going to kill himself just to make a point. He's probably not wrong.

    Friendly

Rei can make friends with anyone, anywhere, unlike his brother.

    Background

    Reincarnation

    • Rei and Suto hatched from the same Digitama.
    • Due to a quirk in their regeneration, their Digitama did not materialize in Primary Village but instead formed in the middle of Freezeland.
    • Their Digitama was discovered by Kuzu, a Garurumon, and transported back to Kuzu's tribe.

    Early Life

    • Raised in a small tribe Digimon, though not well or lovingly.
    • Learned at a young age that they would need to fight their way to the top—and that there would always be someone stronger than them.
    • Compensated for their individual weaknesses by working as partners, always tightly synced despite their opposite personalities.
    • Evolved to their Child forms at a relatively young age, due to the harshness of the Freezelands, but were never able to further evolve—it felt as though there was a "block" on their natural evolution energy.

    Partnered

    • Woke up in the middle of the night with a powerful urge to travel to Mount Panorama. Intuitively knew that they would meet someone important there.
    • While hiking up the south face of Mount Panorama, witnessed Leo falling out of a "portal", unconscious.
    • Claimed Leo as their "partner" because it felt right.

    Suto's Freeform
    Personality

Suto is a fiercely protective grump. While emotional attachment doesn't come easily to Suto, he views Leo as a kind of extension of himself, so any offense to her is an offense to him—and he does not take offenses lightly.

He relishes conflict as a way to assert his dominance and prove himself after a life spent clawing his way out of the muck. Rei largely keeps him in line and holds Suto back from starting a fight with every 'mon to give him the side-eye.

Rei is the one person for whom Suto feels genuine emotion—not just as a prized possession or an extension, as Leo is, but as his other half. (His better half, Suto has to admit.) He both loves and resents Rei for what he is: bright, loving, and fiercely loyal for the sake of others.

    Immoral

Morality is overrated. Suto does what's necessary for him and his brother to survive.

    Extension

Though Suto lacks the natural affection that Rei has toward Leo, Suto instead views her as a prized possesion, as almost an extension of himself. And he does not take kindly to people harming his possessions.

    Cold

Suto has a hard time feeling strong emotions. They just don't register on his radar.

    Hot-Headed

For all the shit he gives his brother when Rei gets himself into fights, Suto is just as bad. Except his reasons for punching out a Digimon twice his size aren't nearly as noble. Suto just doesn't appreciate what he interprets as faults against him or his brother (or Leo, he admits). And boy are a lot of things easily interpreted as faults.

    Satori's Freeform
Satori is a single entity comprised of two diametrically opposed personalities that are often not in agreement with each other. He encompasses the extremes of Suto and Rei's characters: the single-shade morality, unflinching pursuit of justice, and cold rationality.

Satori strives to enact what he thinks is justice—often morally gray and ambiguously justified—but will not hesitate to destroy those who oppose him in this, even if they pose no true threat.

Though Satori is not just two individuals merged together as he is more than the sum of his parts, his mind occasionally fragments—instead of being the mutual conversation between Rei and Suto, he is in opposition.
