Edison "Eddy" Tremblay-Kwan's FreeformA troubled and lonely nobody in the Real World, Eddy immediately took a chance on the Digital World as his opportunity to shine. In a fashion, he fits the idea of the quintessential "gamer"-- quick witted and assertive, yet foul-mouthed, blunt, and abrasive. It isn't surprising that most folks are turned off by him at first. In fact, many are shocked, if not intimidated, by the sheer amount of ballsiness and competence that this one goofy kid is capable of-- it's easy to be fierce and courageous when you have absolutely no shame and nothing to lose. Yet, Eddy isn't without his playful side; he knows better than anyone else that he won't be a kid for long, and he'll gladly use that as an excuse to his advantage in order to pull pranks on others and serve his own interests without having to deal with criticism. Always eager to show off and prove his worth to others, despite his age and his short and pudgy stature, a friend of Eddy's will be well cared-for and always entertained; an enemy of his would be wise to sleep with an eye open, lest they face this hot-head's spiteful side.
Eddy's parents were rarely around. His mom was an ER nurse and his deadbeat dad was a software developer who lived overseas. Most afternoons he came home from school to an empty apartment. In reality, he had two friends-- his VR headset and his always-stocked pantry of snacks. For as long as he was able to, Eddy had to take care of himself-- not that he minded, or anything. Being a single mom was hard, he couldn't blame her. Yet, even despite his self-sufficiency and "independence", he couldn't help but feel loneliness.
So, naturally, when the new Digimon World MMO release was announced, it was all he could think about for months. Sure, there were other VR experiences and games out there (and, in fact, his room was filled with stacks of old-school games he'd 100%'d), but none could compare to this one. When it finally dropped, all Eddy could do was put on a headset play the damn thing-- it was his fixation. Eddy would skip school, often even forgoing showers and meals, just to make sure he could get a leg up on others in the game, so that, for once, he could be recognized for being something. For what it was worth, Eddy was damn good at it, quickly rising up the ranks as a competitive battler and earning himself renown as a fearsome opponent. He was invested in this virtual reality to the point that, when the day maintenance came and the minds of players from all over the world became trapped in the Digital World, Eddy initially didn't even notice. Even when the reality set in that he couldn't log out and this was, for all intents and purposes, real, for all Eddy cared, this was just New Game Plus.
Angus's FreeformA reliable partner and a hell of a cook, Angus might just be the only reason Eddy hasn't died in the Digital World. Best friends since the moment they first locked eyes on File Island, Angus is every bit as mischievous and down to clown as his human partner. While he might lack some of Eddy's innate battlefield instinct, Angus is resourceful, fierce, and surprisingly savvy of the hidden motors and motivations that drive the different actors in the Digital World, having lived in the blinding streets of Neon City for most of his life, making him much more competent than Eddy in a worldly sense. As a duo, their strengths and weaknesses balance quite nicely, and together they've begun to make a name for themselves in the world-- but whether that reputation is positive or negative depends who's being asked.
Before Eddy and Angus became self-styled "Burger Princes", Angus worked day and night as a server in his family restaurant in Neon City, "Burgers by Bob". While it wasn't the most luxurious life, it was certainly humbling. Yet, of all his many baby brothers and sisters, Angus was the only 'mon among them who had greater aspirations, of leaving the city to go on his own adventure. When word came of aliens appearing around the world, bringing with them the light of Digivolution, Angus' parents knew that they couldn't stop him from doing what he truly wanted to do. The night Angus planned to sneak out of the house, they'd left their eldest son a note of well wishes and a bag full of burgers on the dining room table for him to find on his way out, a token of their love for him to take on his journey. Later that day, Angus met Eddy, and the rest is history.
